Position Summary

 

    In May 2014, joined the US Agency for International Development (USAID) funded Mining Investment and Development for Afghan Sustainability (MIDAS) Project based in Kabul, Afghanistan as the Senior Geologist for Mineral Exploration & Capacity Development,

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities

Establishing the company's strategic direction and priorities.

bullet

Responsible for the overall technical direction of the projects and management of project activities, providing direction and support to project team (AGS, MoMP & MIDAS).

bullet

Provide technical leadership to ensure high quality programming to achieve project results.

bullet

Oversee project planning (i.e. development of work plans and operating budget) and reporting (i.e. review and approve periodic budgets and reports).

bullet

Ensure that MIDAS Component 2 provides high quality technical assistance to local counterparts; conduct regular monitoring and mentoring visits to the AGS and MoMP.

bullet

Ensure compliance with MIDAS and USAID requirements, policies and regulations.

bullet

Act as liaison to relevant AGS, MoMP and USAID officials when required.

bullet

Provide training and mentoring to counterparts to strengthen capacity for technical service delivery and compliance with MIDAS/USAID rules and regulations

bullet

Coordinate/arrange all technical and capacity development assistance and training activities under the work program.

bullet

Document and disseminate methodologies and results that can inform the wider AGS/MoMP community (such as evaluation documents, consultant reports, workshop reports, etc.).

bullet

Share and promote these resources through a variety of means (including e-mail, the AGS and MoMP Intranet, etc.) and liaise with Component 3 for its further and wider community outreach.

Oversee the management and development of project personnel to ensure a diverse, skilled and productive workforce, an effective leadership team, and an organizational culture where USAID objectives and values are practiced.

Provide regular written/oral program progress updates as requested.

bullet

Perform other duties as assigned by the COP.
