GENERAL MANAGEMENT

To manage by
maintaining an effective and efficient operations of the Geology
Department of Benguet Gold Operation (BGO) Open Pit Division, reporting
directly to the Division Manager for Operations |
Operations
Geology
 |
See to the update
and accurate geological field mapping and sampling to its proper map
representations of the Open Pits |
 |
Responsibility
for the rapid and accurate geological interpretations of the pit geology
as exposed and its immediate dissemination of the collated data to the
Mine Managers concerned for their geological guidance. |
 |
Responsible for
the strict implementation of grade control measures. |
Research Geology
 |
Responsible for
the research, identification and initial geological evaluation of open
pitable or underground prospects. |
 |
Responsible for
the programming and strict implementation of all long and short term
exploration and development items as prioritised in the research phase. |
Diamond
Drilling Activities
 |
Responsible for
the identification and programming of diamond drilling targets. |
 |
Responsible for
the accurate and detailed core logging and sampling activities. |

UNDERGROUND OPERATIONS
|
 |
Maintain an
effective and efficient operation of the Geological Staff within the
Department and staffs of other Departments (Services, Production,
Administration, etc.). |
|
 |
Daily monitoring
and inspection of work schedule and accomplishments of all personnel of
the different sections (mapping, sampling, drafting, clerical) through
their supervisors. |
 |
Constant
communication with the Geological Staff of the different sections to
know their needs, problems, in the implementation of their respective
functions and responsibilities. These include support in terms of
equipment, materials and supplies, workload, training and technical
guidance, monetary or personal problems. Also, to inform, delegate and
exchange ideas concerning changes or new situations within the
department and the entire operations. |

Coordinate,
communicate and interact with other department heads and or supervisors
to ensure updated services; proper implementation of existing or new
policies, plans, programs and strategies. |
|
 |
Maintain and
monitor geological guidance to all production and development activities
to ensure attainment of the required mine ore output in terms of ore
reserves and gold ounces produced. |
|
 |
Daily inspection
of geological mapping of subordinates on active working places with
their corresponding sampling. Write recommendations and follow up
progress regarding programmed activities, new or changes in plans.
Maintain regular afternoon discussions with the Mine Managers and
Production Heads about relevant developments and status of the working
places as mapped and sampled. |
 |
Evaluate the
status of the stopes and/or the production beats in general; recommends
which working places are to be stopped or opened; recommends stopes
viable for bulk or selective mining. |
 |
Monitor and
initiate effective Grade Control measures - grade control tagging;
inspection of Haulage and production reports; conduct special controlled
sampling in the mine and tipple. |
 |
Monitor the
production cycle; tonnage and grade computations and contribution by the
individual beat; maintain well-balanced development activities for
mining support. |

 |
Prepare, maintain,
monitor and carry out the Exploration and Development program and
activities to sustain or improve the ore reserve position of the mine. |
|
 |
Ensure updated
and quality mapping and sampling of all active development items. |
 |
Evaluate and
quantify the meterage and development crews required in the
implementation of the E&D program. |
 |
Conducts study,
updates, develop and/or improve geological ideas as instrumental guides
to the exploration activities and better understanding of the ore
deposit. |

SURFACE EXPLORATION |
|
 |
Project-in-charge of the Bulk Gold Project in Sibuyan Island, Romblon,
Philippines. This project started from grass roots exploration to
drilling. |
 | Comprehensive
literature research and compilation of prospects with potential
disseminated - replacement type (bulk-gold) deposits in the Philippines. |
 | Responsible for
the field verification (preliminary geological investigation) of the above
prospects. This includes planning and budgeting expenses for the
fieldwork. |
 | Supervision of
detailed geologic mapping (1:500 & 1:1000m) core logging and
representative geochemical sampling. |
 | Responsible for
the location of costeans, tests pit and drill holes. |
 | Responsible for
writing comprehensive geologic reports. |

Responsibility
for Decisions
|
|
Make most decisions concerning day to day smooth operations of the Geology
Department; guidance of production stopes and development works. These
include scheduling of subordinates for effective and efficient geological
work coverage. Write geological reports with recommendations for better gold
ore production. |
|
|
|
Responsibility
for Profit and Loss
|
|
|
|
Responsible to the Corporation for the geological performance of Open Pit,
Underground Mines and Exploration projects toward productivity and
attainment of corporate goals. |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
 | Meet daily with
subordinates for their reporting, problems and instructions. |
 | Reports to the
Division Geologist for the daily progress and status of the mines and
projects. |
 | Closely
coordinate with the Engineering Department concerning ore reserve
estimations, sketches for proposed development drives, sampling, grade
control and general mine planning. |
 | Meets with
government officials concerning legal matters and visitors concerning mine
visits. |

|
Spends most of the time in the mine site. The mornings were spent doing
underground visits on active working places and giving spot instructions,
recommendations to miners, labourers, etc. checking sampling SOP's;
monitoring safety and operating parameters. The afternoons were spent on
necessary office works, report writing and discussions. |
