DP SUPERVISOR

 

Position Location

Personalisation Plant - Highett

 

Purpose

Schedule and co-ordinate the activities within DP to ensure supply of jobs receipted are processed and forwarded to the Print Area in keeping with production demand to achieve delivery within contractual time. 

 

Scope

Direct management of Day shift DP operators and technical issues. Liaison with Afternoon and Night shift managers concerning management issues for DP operators or technical problems on those shifts.

Five (5) years experience working in computer operations and maintenance

Experience working with database applications

Strong Continuous Improvement Focus

Five (5) years experience in a supervisory role

One to two (1-2) years experience programming in Visual Basic

Proven project management experience

bullet

High level communication skills in all mediums

bullet

Completion of Cert IV in I.T. or equivalent

Experience managing Occupational Health and Safety in a work area or business unit

bullet

Problem solving skills

Negotiation skills

bullet

Experience working within Lean Manufacturing Environment

 

Key Activities and Responsibilities

SAFETY

bullet

Monitor and ensure compliance to OH & S policies and procedures to help provide a safe working environment

bullet

Ensure employees receive necessary equipment and appropriate training to enable them to work safely

bullet

Actively participate in hazard identification and resolution at the local level

 

COMMUNICATION

bullet

Liaise with all manufacturing departments to ensure maximum efficiencies are being gained from the planned work schedule

bullet

Supply reports on manufacturing status to those who require them on a daily basis

bullet

Hold regular meetings with the team members to notify the PN Shift Managers if any assistance is required

bullet

Represent the team and its views to other parts of the company and customers

bullet

Communicate plans, changes and requirements to team ensuring coordination of efforts

bullet

Maintain close liaison with Afternoon and Night Shift Managers on all DP Issues

bullet

Reporting of Business Plan for DP Dept./Monthly Report highlighting key issues.

 

QUALITY

Ensure all final output meets required specifications and take corrective actions when necessary

bullet

Ensure  all work instructions are current and comply with company quality standards and ISO 9001:2000

bullet

Ensure all KPIs set for the department are correctly monitored and reported.

 

QUANTITY

Ensure all incoming client files are processed to SLA requirements and the data supplied to the manufacturing area

bullet

Ensure implementation of continuous work flow practices

bullet

Ensure remakes are processed in time to go back to manufacturing for  production and despatch within contractual time frames.

 

HOUSEKEEPING

Ensure good housekeeping standards are maintained throughout the workplace (5S).

 

SECURITY

bullet

Enforce adherence to Leigh Mardon’s security procedures (both physical and IT)

bullet

Ensure DP area maintained as a secure lock-down environment.

 

TRAINING

bullet

Identify the training needs of team members (including night and afternoon shifts)

bullet

Advise on training requirements for this department and assist with implementation of any training programs

bullet

Prepare training plan for each team member to address individual development needs.

Ensure employees understand the mechanism for contributing ideas for value creation

Participate in the business units’ strategic planning activities

Assist in recruitment process for new team members

Allocate appropriate resources to the daily schedule to maximise productivity and customer service in all areas

Ensure all activities are performed in the most cost-effective manner

Monitor operational KPIs; process sheets and stats for identifying opportunities for improvement

bullet

Implement the fixed Preventative Maintenance Roster and liaise with engineers to provide replacement maintenance time should the need arise

bullet

Monitor adherence to company policy and procedures for the tracking; logging and traceability of customer data

bullet

Ensure temperature and dust controls are monitored and maintained

bullet

Ensure LM’s corporate and personnel policies are observed by the team and take corrective actions when necessary.

 

SCHEDULING AND PLANNING

Ensure sufficient number of team members are available within budget and take corrective actions in case of shortfalls

Co-ordinate and approve team members time sheets, leave and other planned absences

Assist with annual budget planning
